I think it's great that you made the effort to support your friend in his time of need. I can only hope that I have friends like you if anything happens to my JW parents.

Went to a JW "funeral" on Saturday
by Dorktacular inmy brother called me late on the 13th to let me know that a friend of ours - who is no longer a jw - called him and said that his dad was being flown by helicopter to the hospital because he collapsed at home and had no pulse.
they took my friend's dad off life support on valentine's day and he died.
well, i was debating whether or not to go to the funeral because i have no desire to hang around a bunch of jws or set foot in a kindumb hall again.

What was it that "clicked" w/ you that this wasn't the "true religion"?
by cognac infor me, it was not being able to prove that people were going to be resurrected to earth... i'm still not sure of the answer, but for some reason that just started this huge, fast snowball of different things that i couldn't prove... .
this lightbulb just went off in my head... .

The utter lack of love that mimicked what Jesus said.
I 'knew' it for a while, before I could really put it together. Then Ray's book put the whole sham to light - and whoosh - my last 45 years of belief evaporated.
Jeff
Wow Jeff, that's my story too. I kept on say to my hubby "There's something wrong with us, where is the love?" I got c of c and the rest is history.

My conversation with a Born Again.
by yourmomma ini spoke with a born again today.
i am wondering if this person represents how they all think or just some.
i'll assume just some.

Another 'born-again' here - and no I don't believe all JWs are going to hell either
Same here. I cannot not pretend to know how God will judge. Any person that condems another group needs to seriously look at their bibles again.

Doula
by Princess Daisy Boo ini am considering doing a course to become a doula.
this is a complete change in direction for me and i am not sure yet whether or not this will turn into a career, but the experiences of being pregnant and giving birth awakened an interest and a passion within me, and whilst i dont really want to go back to school to study nursing and midwifery, i think that the doula course could be a great outlet for this passion i have.. has anyone out there got any insight into this practice?
i would appreciate your thoughts!

Women: Do you pray in presence of men?

If you had a Time Machine would you stop yourself being a Witness???
by Witness 007 inwhat if you wen't back in time and stopped your mother from opening the door to the witnesses...and your family never came into the truth!!
what if you risked changing everything else in your life...not having kid's or the same marriage partner...would it be worth it.

What J.W teaching did you find the hardest to accept??
by karter infor me it was the fact that god is allowing all these innocent people to get killed to prove a point ,i mean it was a big bet he had with satan.. i explained it to my wife this way if i had our children killed in the most horriable way just to show they couldn't live without me how does that make me look?.

Welcome MMae!
For me it was the whole paradise thing. I could not imagine living with those people for all eternity. To me that would have been more like hell! I once asked an elder if he thought that the paradise was maybe just a spiritual state of mind and not a real place! LOL was i in trouble for that one and I was about 16 at the time.
